It's Time for a "HUG" Toronto!!! 8th Annual Meagan's Walk: Creating a Circle of Hope
May 8, 2009, TORONTO, ON - Spend this Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10, 2009, helping to advance children's health research. Come out to the 8th Annual Meagan's Walk: Creating a Circle of Hope. This event gives hope and generates awareness about the devastating effects of paediatric brain tumours and raises much needed funds for research in this area.
Beginning at 10:00 am at Ontario Place, Meagan's Walk draws thousands of participants who wind their way through downtown Toronto (Ontario Place along Queens Quay West, north on Lower Simcoe, East on Bremner, North on York St. to University Ave. to SickKids) and head towards The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) on University Avenue. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.
With an anticipated arrival time of 11:00 a.m., all media are encouraged to come to the hospital to witness the human "hug" - where all participants join hands and surround SickKids - a symbol of strength and support for all the children, mothers and families fighting illness at SickKids, across Canada and around the world.
Following the hug, walkers will congregate at 'Mother's Way'- a specially designated sidewalk in front of SickKids where they can show their support to mothers and their families who are currently spending this Mother's Day in hospital with their child.
