Team Canada’s junior artistic gymnasts dominated the final day of competition at the Olympic Hopes Cup

Team Canada’s junior artistic gymnasts dominated the final day of competition at the Olympic Hopes Cup in the Czech Republic winning eleven medals including four gold medals from Ana Padurariu.

Padurariu added to her two gold medals won yesterday in the team event and all-around competition, winning gold in all four apparatus finals.
She started the day off on the vault where she scored 14.350 to win the gold and finished just ahead of Victoria Jurca who scored 14.175 to take home silver.
On the beam, Canada once again finished in first and second place with Padurariu scoring 14.200 to win gold and Hannah Chrobok the silver with a score of 13.750.
Padurariu also scored 14.000 and 14.100 on the uneven bars and floor to round out her golden performance.

The Canadian men also had excellent performances today winning a combined five medals. William Emard won two gold medals scoring 13.700 on rings and 14.300 on vault ahead of teammate Ioannis Chronopoulos, who finished with a bronze medal and a score of 13.350. Anthony Tawfik also won a gold medal on pommel horse scoring 14.250 and Chronopoulos added a second bronze medal on the high bar.

“Our team performed very well today,” said Markos Baikas, men’s junior and youth national team coach, “we were on fire and we had a lot of successful apparatus.” In addition to the medals won, Canada also had four athletes finish just off the podium in fourth place, a great accomplishment for all the athletes.

Canada finished the Olympic Hopes Cup with a total 17 medals including 11 gold.
