FoodShare Toronto will celebrate its 30th anniversary
FoodShare Toronto will celebrate its 30th anniversary by hosting a breakfast for community members, staff and volunteers on October 22nd. The event kicks off 30 Days of FoodShare and will feature delicious food selections from Field to Table Catering. To commemorate the landmark day, FoodShare Toronto Executive Director Debbie Field will speak about FoodShare’s history, the current food system and actions needed to work towards a more just, resilient food system. While advances have been made in food programming, much is still to be done as thirteen percent of Canadians live in a state of food insecurity. WHO: Special guests at the celebratory breakfast include: Councillor Ana Bailão – presenting City of Toronto Proclamation on behalf of Mayor John Tory Senator Art Eggleton – who helped form FoodShare in 1985 as Mayor of the City of Toronto M.P.P. Cristina Martins – presenting a congratulatory scroll for FoodShare’s impact in the community TDSB Chair Robin Pilkey TDSB Trustee Marit Stiles WHEN: October 22, 8:30-10am WHERE: The event will be held at FoodShare, 90 Croatia Street, at 8:30am. FoodShare Toronto is Canada’s original direct field to table Community Food Hub. Since 1985, FoodShare has modeled a food system that is sustainable and accessible to everyone.
