Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada
“Canada is taking decisive action to confront the ISIS threat. ISIS is a vicious terrorist organization that has threatened Canada by name and taken the lives of countless innocent people.
"We welcome the White House’s confirmation that Fadhil Ahmad al-Hayali, a senior ISIS leader, was killed by Coalition airstrikes earlier this week.
"Our Conservative Government refuses to sit on the sidelines when confronted by terrorist threats. Canadians know that we cannot sit idly by and pretend that these threats do not exist.
"We remain grateful to the brave men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces who are part of the international coalition combating the escalating jihadist threat to the security of Canada, the Coalition and our freedom."
