TIFF is coming !
One of the planet’s biggest and brightest film festivals unspools starting September 10. World premieres, galas, schmoozes and parties all pile on for a big buzzy event where stars, directors and industry honchos make the rounds. If you’re a cinephile or just love to see the celebs, TIFF is the place to be.
BEST.SUMMER.EVER. There’s still time to have tons of summer fun! The end-of-summer classic Canadian National Exhibition - “The Ex” to locals - runs August 21 to September 7 and is packed with rides, games and over-the-top fair food. (Deep-fried butter anyone?) Or be mesmerized by a human knot, aerial dancers and dozens of breathtaking acts at Scotiabank BuskerFest.
NEW ATTRACTION LAUNCHED Part theatre, part game, Escape from the Tower launched in mid-August at historic Casa Loma. Using actual events from World War II, the escape game takes full advantage of the castle-like features of the setting.
CULTURE BY THE LAKE The world’s first two-sided floating movie experience, Sail-In Cinema, drops anchor August 20 to 22 with fan favourite flicks. Or catch a free classical music performance at the Summer Music in the Garden series, set in the beautiful Toronto Music Garden on the shores of Lake Ontario.
Camp Wavelength, a musical festival with a summer-camp-for-kids vibe, pitches its tent from August 28 to 30 at Artscape Gibraltar Point on Toronto Island.
