Open Letter to Viorica Scripca
She was only 18, she was a dreamer with her head in the clouds, a poetess, a flower in a crystal greenhouse,, protected by her parents from the cruel reality of Communism. Her Mom was her "backbone", her role model. It was time to go to the University and check out the results of the toughest admission examination - only seven (7) openings for the entire nation. She stopped in fear and asked her Mom to go up the stairs to look at the results posted on the wall of the University building. Did she pass or fail? Mom "swam" through the crowds so she can reach the list of names admitted. What took so long? Was she going to find her daughter's name? All of a sudden Mom appeared from the crowds, heading to the stairs with her eyes looking to the ground, looking sad. OK so she will try next year again... frown emoticon Once down the stairs the daughter's and Mom's eyes met and MOM SMILED the biggest smile in the world.. "You are admitted to the University of Bucharest" - said Mom with tears in her eyes. " The 18 year old jumped still trying to cope with the big news. " Mother and daughter hugged for many, many minutes in the happiest and accomplished way one can imagine. Dad hugged both of us and all felt complete in one way or another. The crystal greenhouse exploded into fireworks and the fragile flower was part of a greater part of her Life. * Thank you, Mom, for all the huge sacrifices you made for me during a time of social unrest , of Communism. Thank you for making my childhood a Wonderland, a worry-free atmosphere while you, probably, were fighting the indoctrinated and uneducated monsters of a failing social order. January 29 is your Birthday and I hope you can see me and feel my love for you up there. My vibrations of warmth, sorrow, and,.maybe, my energy will reach you, caress you, and kiss your Soul. Love, Your daughter, Anda Iolanda
