Enjoy the great outdoors in Ontario with overnight camping
Did you know that 25% of Ontarians have never been on an overnight camping trip? No experience? No problem! Ontario Parks wants you to experience an overnight camping trip. They provide everything you need to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.
The Learn to Camp program at Ontario Parks will equip new campers with the skills, confidence and knowledge they need to get involved in camping. Participants learn all they need to know at overnight camping experiences offered at 9 provincial parks from June to September. New campers arrive at the park with food for the weekend and their own bedding; all other camping equipment is provided by Ontario Parks’ partners at Coleman and Canadian Tire. Throughout the weekend Ontario Parks staff lead fun hands-on instruction covering everything from campsite set-up and camping safety, to how to enjoy the park.
No wonder that we have people saying great things about the program:
“This is a fabulous program to try camping without any risk or large investment in camping gear. Ontario has amazing parks and this program has peaked my family's interest in visiting a new park each year. My kids have discovered a connection to the outdoors and enjoyed telling their friends how they now know how to set up a tent and start a camp fire.”
“Excellent Program. I have always wanted to go camping since I arrived in Canada, but the whole idea of the equipment/kitchen etc. was intimidating. When I stumbled upon this program, I went for it right away and loved every minute of it. No denying that I am now fully “initiated” into camping…Thank you so much for making this such a wonderful experience.”
In addition to learning to camp there are lots of extra learning opportunities for families like the new Learn to Fish program Want your kids have fun and build great memories over the summer holiday? You can join Ontario Parks for a 2 day and 1 night learn to camp experience. All you need to bring is food for the weekend, bedding and your personal items.
