The Times Colonist Island Savings Open in Victoria, BC will kick off the inaugural season of PGA TOUR Canada June 3-9, launching a new chapter in Canadian golf. The Tour will begin play in June before heading across the country and finishing in September.
“We are delighted to announce the inaugural schedule of PGA TOUR Canada,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem. “This Tour presents a tremendous opportunity for the growth of the game in Canada and we’re excited about the future of this tour in the coming years. From The Presidents Cup to the RBC Canadian Open, the PGA TOUR has always been welcomed in Canada. We’ve seen an outstanding appetite and level of support for the game, and we look forward to engaging that interest this year.”

“This is a very solid starting point for our schedule,” said PGA TOUR Canada President Jeff Monday. “Our goal is to provide our members with quality events with long-term commitments, which leave a lasting impact in the communities we play and we feel we are well on our way to achieving those goals. We are working on several opportunities to increase the number of events not only this year but in 2014.”
With the top five players heading to the Web.com Tour at the end of the season, PGA TOUR Canada strengthens its status as a world-class Tour for players to develop and prepare for the game’s highest levels, both on and off the course. The summer-long schedule will give players an opportunity to prove themselves over the course of the season on the way to the Web.com Tour.
"Over the past 23 years, the Web.com Tour has been the path to the PGA TOUR for a number of Canadian players," said Web.com Tour president Bill Calfee. "With an exciting new era in PGA TOUR qualifying upon us, we look forward to watching the talent develop on PGA TOUR Canada, and ultimately watching them compete for the 50 PGA TOUR cards on the Web.com Tour."
PGA TOUR Canada Q-School will be conducted April 7-12 at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon (The Legends and The Champions courses) in Beaumont, CA, with more details about registration coming soon.
