Veterans teach political staff essentials to the next generation with Seneca College Symposium
TORONTO, Oct. 27, 2011 /CNW/ - Seneca College will offer the first training symposium for political staff in Ontario this November.
Veterans from different political parties and career backgrounds will gather to pass on multi-partisan experience and insight to the next generation of political staff at a training symposium to be held at Seneca College on November 5, 6, 12 and 13.
"Believe me, for a politician, good political staff can make or break a career. But where do you learn to be a 'good' staffer?," said Frances Lankin, past President and Chief Executive Office of the United Way of Greater Toronto and former member of the Ontario Legislature (90-95) where she held several cabinet portfolios. "Until now it was trial by fire....now Seneca is offering a first class, practical, how-to program. This should be mandatory for anyone wanting to work in the field of politics."
Guest lecturers will include: Steve Paikin, The Agenda with Steve Paikin David Tsubouchi, Partner - Fogler Rubinoff LLP, Former PC ON Cabinet Minister George Smitherman, Former Deputy Premier Gerry Caplan, Former NDP campaign director, political strategist and analyst Jack Siegel, Blaney McMurtry and legal counsel Liberals [IIP]; Integrity and ethics commissioner
