Ode to friendship
What is friendship?
If not the reflection of those special feelings
That caring for another’s needs,
Propels reciprocally a sense of security
Which makes life easier?
What is a friend?
But the word describing that inner loyalty
Which commitment brings,
When catering to the other’s needs
Many times ahead of your own emergencies?
What kind of life
Is that without a friend, or friendship to share?
Even if unevenly cemented,
When fate so dictates... or,
Is a human frailty we must accept as fate?
For life-long friends are rare and friendship
An exotic fruit we may consume
Only when aware we can fit it like a glove...
When we have each other to share,
Whether in loneliness or in love,
Life is a joy…
When we care for each other!
