Alliance Française de Toronto
Alliance Française Toronto is excited to present "Sport Friendly: The Field of Diversity," an international collaborative art exhibit running from July 6 to August 3, 2024. Led by photographer Emilien Buffard and supported by the Institut Français, this project has been recognized as part of the "Cultural Olympiad" by the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Committee. By photographing local teams through a global cultural network, the project seeks to fight against discrimination, amplify diverse voices, and promote inclusion in sports and society, especially during international sporting events. Bata Shoe Museum
There’s something for everyone this summer over at Toronto’s favourite shoebox! Drop-in for their family programming throughout the summer from Monday to Friday for their exciting new Shoe Detective Academy starting July 2! Learn about shoe forensics, create your own cypher to decode a bracelet you can make yourself, complete puzzles, solve a shoe heist and more. Channel your inner Jane Fonda at their 80s inspired aerobics dance class on Sunday, July 14 or Sunday, August 18 led by Choreographer, Educator, and Dancer Melissa Bartrem. Join them on Wednesday, July 17 for a unique paint night with artist and graphic designer Gus Aguirre. Dive into the eerie world of Stephen King with their upcoming spine-chilling trivia nights on Wednesday, July 24 and Wednesday, August 21. Don’t forget they offer FREE admission every Sunday. 918 Bathurst
918 Bathurst continues a packed year of events in July and August, filled with both exciting showcases, as well as private weddings and Bat Mitzvahs. For public events, they're thrilled for the return of The Tawoos Initiative, who will have a two-day residency from July 19 and 20. Details to be announced soon. On July 21, Showkace Therapy, a trained therapist and podcaster, is launching an event called “Let's Talk: You and Me,” which will include a panel discussion, Q&A sessions, and networking opportunities. On August 15, NoaAon is hosting a healing breathwork event titled, “System Reset.” And of course, Annex Chess Club continues their weekly tournaments every Monday from 6:30pm onwards. The Japan Foundation, Toronto
JFT will host multiple film screenings this summer starting with Tales from Okinawa on July 9 (short films from emerging Okinawan filmmakers); Jiro Dreams of Sushi on July 23 (to conclude their food film series); and Izaihou on July 30 (a rare film screening-lecture event about a now-lost sacred Okinawan ritual). JFT’s Tanabata Star Festival is happening on July 6. Join with family and friends to experience traditional Japanese festivities including wish-making, papercraft workshops, games, storytelling, a chance to try on yukata (traditional garment for summer) and take pictures at the photobooth. Are you interested in studying Japanese? Join JFT’s online Japanese classes in September – registration opens August 1! Istituto Italiano di Cultura
The exhibition Italian Cuisine and Mediterranean Identity: A Culinary Journey continues at the Istituto until August 15 - a captivating photographic exhibition by renowned food photographer Bill Milne. Curated to unveil the intertwined history of Italian gastronomy and its Mediterranean roots, the showcase features a delightful array of Italian delicacies tracing back to ancient traditions. ROM

Blackhurst Cultural Centre
"My feet is my only carriage!" - Bob Marley. Blackhurst Culture Centre's walking tours are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30am-12pm & 12:30-2pm and Fridays from 1pm-2:30pm. Walk with Blackhurst Cultural Centre and explore a neighbourhood with a vibrant legacy of Canada's Black pioneers. Book here now - see you soon! Don't miss the Annual Emancipation Day Underground Freedom Train Ride, 2024. This event, symbolizing the Underground Railroad’s role in Canada’s history, celebrates Emancipation Day on August 1, when slavery was abolished in the British Empire. Founded by the Blackhurst Cultural Centre in 2013, and partnered with the TTC, it offers an underground experience via the subway system. Join them on Wednesday, July 31. The event starts at Union Station and ends at Downsview Station. Check their website and socials for more details. Following this is Celebrating Emancipation Day 2024 along Bloor Street. Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre
The Miles Nadal JCC is getting ready for their outstanding fall lineup this July and August. Please visit their Gallery for Beyond Borders: Uniting Canadian-Israeli Communities Through Art. This exhibit celebrates local Canadian-Israeli artists presenting works that know no borders. Gardiner Museum
The Gardiner Museum is closed until October for the first phase of a full-scale transformation of its ground floor, featuring the construction of a fully equipped Makerspace, a Community Learning Centre, and a new gallery of Indigenous ceramics. The Gardiner’s largest capital project in two decades will see the Museum’s physical space reimagined to reflect its mission of building community with clay. During the second phase of construction from October 2024 – October 2025, the Museum will reopen, with the exception of the ground floor. The Bloor St. Culture Corridor, Toronto's most diverse arts and culture district, is a true creative cluster, an arts and culture destination, and a collaboration between some of Toronto's most dynamic arts and culture organizations.
The Bloor St. Culture Corridor offers the public a wide variety of arts genres, from museum experiences to films, art exhibitions to music concerts, and opportunities to experience some of Toronto's cultural diversity, including Aboriginal, French, Jewish, Italian, Japanese, Estonian, African and Caribbean arts and culture.
All Bloor St. Culture Corridor organizations present arts and cultural events for the public year-round in destination venues located in a cluster along a vibrant stretch of Bloor Street West. Each year more than three million members of the public go to Bloor St. Culture Corridor arts and culture destinations, and attend exhibitions, performances, and events. Together, the Bloor St. Culture Corridor organizations employ more than 5,500 culture workers and generate more than $629,500,000 in economic impact each year. In 2016, The Bloor St. Culture Corridor was successful in working with the City of Toronto to have the Bloor St. Culture corridor section of Bloor St. West designated an official City of Toronto cultural corridor.
