Between Minus and Plus Infinity - The voices of the young. ( Între plus și minus infinit - Vocea tinerilor )
Our dearest teenager and young adult readers,
Observatorul is considering opening a new chapter in its pages specially dedicated to you, as the identity of a community can’t be complete and accurate without the voices of its young generation. We are inviting you to share your experiences, thoughts and ideas, your struggles and accomplishments, your fears and hopes. These can be shared in a larger and more diverse platform than what you are used to or comfortable with, like social media or school papers. We are inviting you to put on your story teller and journalist hats, to assume a public face and take responsibility for your opinions, creativity and your ways of seeing the world.
As you might know, the newspaper (http://observatorul.com/) is a voluntary effort to keep our Romanian culture, history and language present in the multicultural pot of generous Canada. However, we are aware that the barrier of the Romanian language at this level can keep you away, and it’s not what we want. We realize that it is more important to get to know you and to have you as an active participant in our community life no matter your preferred language (so yes, you can write in English).
The rubric would be Between Minus and Plus Infinity - The voices of the young. ( Între plus și minus infinit - Vocea tinerilor ) Our first challenge for you is to share your experience about the first big crisis that you are facing as a generation, the Pandemic. We would like to hear how it affected you both negatively and positively, what you lost and what you learned, what you really struggled with and what you overcame, and of course whatever else you think as important to share concerning this issue. We shouldn’t remind you of the etiquette of polite and respectful content, we are sure this is implicit in any of your writings and communication in general.
Get involved in the conversation with a true desire to help with your stories and be helped by those of others. See it as the opportunity to fine tune your voice to be truly heard, appreciated and valued as it should be in today's society and to prepare to become the gamechangers for a better future according to your dreams and hopes. Bring forward your concerns, your difficulties, your modern visions, that unique energy and fresh perspective that is a privilege and a blessing of youth.

For those worried about the length of your texts, we suggest around 500 words, but the best indicator is how much time are you willing to spend reading someone else's story, we guess that is a good personal limit too. We would appreciate it if alongside your name (or nickname, pseudonym, initials) you add your age, place, and what you are currently doing. (Eg: Alex (18, Toronto, student at U of T).
