The paradox of our time
The paradox of our time in history is that we have bigger buildings but smaller souls; wide highways but narrow minds; we spend more, but we own less; we buy more but we enjoy less. We have bigger houses but smaller families; more accessories but less time; more titles but less brains; more knowledge but less judgment; more experts but still more problems; more medicine but less health. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend recklessly, we laugh too little, we drive too fast, we get annoyed too much, we go to sleep too late, we wake up too tired, we watch too much television and we pray too little. We increased our fortunes but we reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, hate too often. We learned how to earn money for a living, but not how to make a real life, we added years to our lives, but not life to our years. We went to the Moon and back, but we still have difficulties crossing the street to meet a new neighbour. We conquered the Universe, but not the interior one. We`ve done greater things, but not better things. We cleaned the air, but we polluted the earth, We won over the atom, but not over our prejudices. We write too much but we learn less. We plan more but we accomplish less. We learned to rush but not to wait. We built computers to store more information and to make more copies than ever, but we communicate less. These are the days of fast-foods and slow digestion, of great people and mean characters, of quick profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorces, beautiful houses but torn homes. These are the days of quick travel, single-use diapers, cheap morality, one-night-stands, overweight bodies and pills that give you any state of mind, from joy to peace, to death. These are the days of too many show-cases with nothing inside, the days when technology can bring this letter to you, and you can decide whether to share this point of view, or simply delete it. Remember to spend time with your beloved ones, because they won`t be beside you forever. Remember to say something nice to your child that worships you, because that child will soon grow and fly away. Remember to hug with love the ones beside you because this is the only treasure you can offer with your heart and it costs you nothing at all. Remember to say "I love you!" to your partner and the ones dear to you, but most important, say it from the heart. A kiss and a hug can ease the pain, when they are sincere. Remember to hold hands with the ones you cherish and cherish those moments, because one day they will no longer be there. Find time to love, to talk, to share your precious thoughts.
