Mysteries of The Mind
Intuition and sciences Intuition, in its most familiar philosophical interpretation intuition is the power of obtaining knowledge which cannot be acquired by either inference or observation, reason or experience. As such it is thought of as an original, independent source of knowledge, since it is thought to account for just for those kinds of knowledge, which other sources of knowledge do not provide. Our knowledge of necessary truths and of moral principles has been explained in this way. - Encyclopedia Britannica
"The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or what you will and the solution comes to you and you don't know why. All great discoveries are made that way". - A. Einstein
"The really valuable thing is intuition." - A. Einstein
"The deeper we penetrate and the more embracing out theories become, the less empirical knowledge is needed to determine those theories." - A. Einstein.
"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is the faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." - A. Einstein
"I am enough of an artist to draw freely on my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination circles the world" -A. Einstein
"Reality is merely an illusion" -A. Einstein
"When I examine myself and methods of thought I come to the conclusion that the gift of fantasy has meant more to me than my talent of absorbing positive knowledge." - A. Einstein
"It is by logic that we prove, but by intuition that we discover" - Henry Poincare
In his Faraday memorial lecture in 1881, von Helmholtz - himself one of the greatest mathematical physicists of the century remarked: "It is in the highest degree astonishing to see what a large number of theorems, the methodical deduction of which require the highest powers of mathematical analysis, he found by a kind of intuition, with the security, without the help of a single mathematical formula." - von Helmholtz
"I have to admit the fact that the unconscious mind is capable at times of assuming an intelligence and purposesiviness which are superior to actual conscious insight." - Carl Gustav Jung; "Psychology and Religion"
"My psychological experience has shown time and again that certain contents issue from a psyche more complex than consciousness. They often contain a superior analysis or insight or knowledge which consciousness has not been able to produce. We have a suitable word for such occurrences intuition. In pronouncing it most people have an agreeable feeling as if something has been settled. But they never take into account the fact that you don't make an intuition. On the contrary, it always comes to you; you have a hunch it has produced itself and you only catch it only if you are clever or quick enough." - Carl Gustav Jung; "Psychology and Religion"
"The term intuition does not denote something contrary to reason, but something outside of the province of reason." - Carl Gustav Jung
"Probably the highest level of intelligence-and the greatest form of creative thought - is intuition. Intuition is the ability to receive or perceive information that is not available to our five senses. This ability is extremely acute in children between the ages of four and seven. Too often is suppressed and crushed by authority who views it as irrational behavior. People are afraid of intuition because they think that somehow it precludes rational thought. The truth is intuition is based on rational thought and could not work without it." - Carl G. Jung
"You see that people who live exposed to natural condition use intuition a great deal, and people who risk something in an unknown field, who are pioneers of some sort, will use intuition, inventors will use it and judges will use it. Whenever you have to deal with strange conditions, where you have no established values or established concepts, you will depend on the faculty of intuition. I have tried to describe this function as well as I can, but perhaps not very good. I say the intuition is a sort of perception which does not go exactly by the sense, but I goes by via unconscious, and at that I leave it and say, 'I don't know how it works.' I don't know what is happening when a man knows something he definitely shouldn't know...I don’t know how he came by it, but he has it all right and he can act on it. For instance anticipatory dreams, telepathic phenomena, and all that kind of things are intuitions. The Germans call it Einfall, which means a thing which fall into your head from nowhere. Sometime is like a revelation. Actually, is a very natural function, a perfectly normal thing, and it is necessary, too, because it makes up for what you can not perceive or think or feel because it lacks reality." - Carl Gustav Jung; "Analytical Psychology" Pg. 14-15
Roger Penrose said: "Mathematical truth is something that goes beyond mere formalism." There often does appear to be some profound reality about these mathematical concepts, going quite beyond deliberations of any particular mathematician. It is though human thought is, instead guided toward some external truth-a truth which has a reality of its own, and which is revealed only partially to anyone of us."
"Taking for example the system of complex numbers, Penrose said that it has a profound and timeless reality." - Paul Davies; The Mind of God. Pg. 145
The astonishing insight of mathematicians such as Gauss and Rieman, is attested by not only by their remarkable mathematical feats (Gauss was a child prodigy and also had a photographic memory), but also by their ability to write down theorems without proofs, leaving later generation of mathematicians to struggle over the demonstrations. How these mathematicians were able to come up with their results "ready-made, when the proofs often turned out to involve volumes of complex mathematical reasoning, is a major puzzle. Probable the most famous case is that of the Indian mathematician S. Ramanujan. Born in India in the late nineteenth century, Ramanujan came from a poor family and had only a limited education. He more or less thought himself mathematics, and being isolated from main stream of academic life, he approached the subject in a very unconventional manner. Ramanujan wrote down a great many theorems without proof some of them of a very peculiar nature that would not normally have occurred to more conventional mathematicians. Eventually some of the Ramanujan's results came to the attention of Hardy, who was astonished. "I have never seen anything in the least like them before," he commented. "A single look at them is enough to show that they could only be written down by a mathematician of the highest class." Hardy was able to prove some of the Ramanujan's theorems by deploying the full range of his considerable mathematical skills, but only with the greatest difficulty. Other results defeated him completely. Nevertheless, he felt they must be correct, "for no one would have the imagination to invent them. Hardy subsequently arranged for Ramanujan to travel to Cambridge to work with him. Ramanujan unfortunately suffered from culture shock and medical problems, and he died prematurely at the age of only thirty-three, leaving a vast stock of mathematical conjectures for posterity. - Paul Davies; The mind of God. Pg. 153
On Dec.17.1273 Thomas Aquinas experienced a vision that caused him to utter these words: “Such things have been revealed to me that all I have written seems to me so much straw”. He never spoke or wrote another word, and died three months later on March 7, 1274 on the way to Rome for a meeting.
A socialist statement. I must before I die, find some means of saying the essential thing which is in me, which I have not yet said, a thing which is not either love nor hate nor pity nor scorn but the very breath of life, shining and coming from afar, which will link into human life. The immensity, the frightening wondrous and implacable forces of the non human.
Bertrand Russell, An Act of Creation by Arthur Koestler.
When Beethoven was inspired his whole appearance would change. His eyes would grow wide and roll about, while his physical presence would suddenly seem to expand. “His slight figure, like his soul, would tower before one in a gigantic size.” Sometime the transfiguring inspiration would come to him on the street startling the passerby.
Socrates - There was a voice often heard by Socrates from childhood. It forbade him to do things, but never gave positive encouragement. They were called “Divine signs or rapts”. – Encyclopedia Britannica
"If God is dead then anything is permitted, anything is possible. If the only sanction for "spiritual" values is supernatural, then undermining this sanction undermines all higher values." - Abraham Maslow.
Biblical Influence
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: "Whom shall I send? Who is our messenger?" I answered, "Here I am send me." He said: Go and say to these people, 'Hear and hear again, but do not understand; see and see again, but do not perceive. Make the heart of these people gross, its ears dull; shut its eyes, so that it will not see with its eyes, hear with its ears, understand with its heart, and be converted and healed." - Isaiah 6: 9,10
As the child's father and mother stood there wondering at the things were being said about him, Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, "You see this child: he is destined for the fall and for the raising of many in Israel, destined to be a sign that is rejected - and a sword will pierce your own soul too -so that the secret thoughts of many may be laid bare." - Luke 2:33-35
"On this mountain, Yahweh will prepare for all people a banquet, of rich food, a banquet of fine wines, of food rich and juicy, of fine strained wines. On this mountain he will remove the mourning veil covering all people, and the shroud enwrapping all nations, he will destroy Death forever. The Lord Yahweh will wipe away the tears from every cheek; he will take away his people's shame everywhere on earth, for Yaheh has said so. That day, it will be said: See, this is our God in whom we hoped for salvation; Yahweh is the one in whom we hoped. We exult and we rejoice that he has saved us; for the hand of Yahweh rest on this mountain. Moab is trodden down where he stands as straw is trodden in the dung pit; and there he stretches out his hands like a swimmer stretching out his hands to swim. But Yahweh curbs his pride and whatever his hands attempt. Your arrogant lofty walls he destroys, he overthrows and he flings them in the dust." - Isaiah 25: 6-12
"Now listen to this you, stupid and thoughtless people -they have eyes and do not see, they have ears and do not hear!" - Jeremiah 5:21
"You must not commit adultery. But I say this to you: if a man looks at a woman lustfully he has already committed adultery with her in his hearth." - Matthew 5:28
"It was the Elijah who was to return. If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen." – Matthew 11:15
"Listen, anyone who has ears." - Matthew 13:9
Then the disciples went to him and asked: "Why do you talk to them in parables?" "Because," he replied, "the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven are revealed to you, but they are not revealed to them. For anyone who has will be given more, and he will have more than enough; but from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away. The reason I talk to them in parables is that they look without seeing and listen without hearing or understanding. So in their case this prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled:
You will listen and listen again, but not understand, see and see again, but not perceive. For the heart of this nation has grown coarse, their ears are dull of hearing, and they have shut their eyes, for fear they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and be converted and be healed by me.
But happy are your eyes because they see, tour ears because they hear! I tell you solemnly, many prophets and holy men longed to see what you see, and never saw it; to hear what you hear, and never heard it. "You therefore are to hear the parable of the sower. When anyone hears the word of the kingdom without understanding, the evil one comes and carries off what has been sown in his heart: the man who received the seed on the edge of the path. The one who received it on patches of rock is the man who hears the word and welcomes it at once with joy. But he has no root in him, he does not last; let some trial come, or some persecution on account of the word, and he falls away at once. The one who received the seed in thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of the world and the lures of riches choke the word so he produces nothing. And the one who received the seed in rich soil is the man who hears the word and understand it; he is the one who yields a harvest and produces now a hundred fold, now sixty, now thirty." - Matthew 13: 10-23
"Then the virtuous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Listen anyone who has ears." - Matthew 13:43
"And some seeds fell into rich soil and, growing tall and strong produced crop; and yielded thirty, sixty, even a hundred fold. And he said. "Listen, anyone who has ears to hear!". When he was alone, The Twelve, together with the others who formed his company, asked what the parables meant. He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God is given to you, but to those who are outside everything comes in parables, so that they may see and see again, but not perceive may hear and hear again, but not understand;, otherwise they might be converted and be forgiven” - Mark 4:10-12
"Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you not understand? Have you no perception? Are your minds closed? Have you eyes that do not see, ears that do not hear?” Or do you not remember? When I broke the five loaves among the five thousands, how many baskets full of scrap did you collect? They answered "Twelve." "And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets full of scrap did you collect?" And they answered, "Seven." Then he said to them, are you still without perception?" - Mark 8:17-21
"His disciple asked him what this parable might mean, and he said, "The mysteries of the kingdom of God are revealed to you, for the rest there are only the parable, so that they may see but not perceive, listen but not understand." - Luke 8:10
"Salt is good is a useful thing. But if the salt itself loses its taste, how can it be seasoned again? It is good for neither soil nor manure heap. People throw it out. Listen, anyone who has ears to hear!" - Luke 14:34
"Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain. 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you." - Matthew 17:20
" Tell I tell you solemnly if you have faith and do not doubt at all, not only will do you what I have done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Get up and throw yourself into the sea, and 'it and will be done. And if you have faith everything you ask for in prayer you will receive." - Matthew 21:21
"Everything is possible for anyone who has faith." - Mark 9:24
"Have faith in God. I tell you solemnly if anyone says to this mountain, 'Get up and throw yourself into the sea,' with no hesitation in his heart but believing that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. I tell you therefore; everything you ask for and pray for, believe that you have it already, and it will be yours." - Mark 11 :24
"Let the children come to me; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs. I tell you solemnly, anyone who, does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." - Mark 10: 14
"Now there are a variety of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service but the same Lord; and there are varieties of working but is the same God who inspire them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. To one is given through the holy Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are inspired by one and the same Spirit, who apportion to each one individually as he wills." - Corinthians 12:4-11
"Take care not to be deceived," he said, "because many will come using my name and saying, 'I am he, and, 'The time is near at hand.' Refuse to join them. And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened, because this must happen, but the end is not so soon. "Then he said to them," Nation will fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes and plagues and famines here and there, there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
"But before all this happens, men will seize you and persecute you; they will hand you over to the synagogues and to imprisonment, and bring you before kings and governors because of my name - and that will be your opportunity to bear witness. Keep this carefully in mind: you are not to prepare your defence, because I myself shall give you an eloquence and wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to resist or contradict. - Luke 21:8-16
“Make the hearth of the people gross, its ears dull: shut its eyes, so that it will not see with its eyes, hear with its ears, understand with its heart, and be converted and healed.” Isaiah 6:10.
This is a good description of atheists ignoring many, scientific facts or even common sense occurrences in everyone’s life. In universe there are millions of mathematical precise integrated systems ignored, but let’s take one simple example to anyone understanding, “think of procreation in detail from a complex process of conception, until delivery at the first breath of air for which lungs have been provided and a digestive system for food, among countless synchronized systems. There are many scientific studies in Creation but you don’t find them in library, or in the mass media and are almost invisible. Question
Is there a concordance by subject of the Bible on a CD? It is far easier to grasp the meaning of an idea by assembling all related biblical paragraphs by subject. The volume would be greater than the Encyclopedia Britannica.
