Make a Donation to the Romanian Hospitals

Dear All,

We are reading more and more about the dramatic surge in the daily number of Coronavirus victims back home and we are worried about our loved ones who still live there.
Let’s do something about it and make any kind of donation to the Romanian hospitals!
Do not forget that they need us now more than ever as they approach the pandemic peak.
I was reading the other day that over 100 Irish doctors under 30 years of age who used to work in Australia flew back home to support their people.
I know that we cannot do the same but at least let’s help our people the way we can.

About Daruieste Viata Association

Daruieste Viata is one of the biggest local NGOs in Romania, dedicated to improving medical infrastructure in hospitals around the country. It was founded in 2012, by Oana Gheorghiu and Carmen Uscatu, after several years of working as volunteers to help cancer patients. Since then, Daruieste Viata has invested over 10. mil euros in modernizing and equipping Romanian hospitals.
Our reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic

Starting with the 11th of March, Daruieste Viata has announced publicly that all the donations raised from that point on will be directed to helping the medical personnel to save lives. They will use all the funds raised to purchase and then donate to Romanian hospitals protective equipment and medical equipment, including mechanical ventilators.
Up until this point they have already sent protective equipment to 16 hospitals around the country (Timisoara, Craiova, Bucharest, Petrosani, Falticeni), including three ventilating machines to the two main hospitals in Bucharest that receive directly sars-cov2 patients. They have intensified their efforts to buy more equipment as they receive tens of messages and requests daily from all over the country.
The status of the purchases can be followed up at the following link

Up until now around 250.000 people have donated to them in order to help hospitals fight COVID-19.
Donations from abroad can be made online (with card or PayPal) - here

Pay attention that we have an equivalent of metaphorical ”stock exchanges” - we say that each donation is like you invest into something and you receive a stock exchange and the value of 1 stock = 10 lei.
Situation in Romania, in the context of COVID-19
To better understand the critical situation Romania is facing, please take into consideration that we are one of the top countries to have lost its medical human resource with thousands of doctors emigrating due to lack of proper infrastructure and treatment condition – a situation that has been going on for the last 30 years. In addition, it is estimated that almost five million Romanians have went abroad for work (Italy, Spain, UK etc.), with lots of them coming back home in the face of this global crises – this means we are facing a case of multiple outbreaks of COVID-19 throughout the country.
The information we have from sources within the medical system shows that Romania has a severe deficit of invasive mechanical ventilators, of protective equipment (specifically protection masks FFP2 or N95), and of knowledge regarding protocols in managing the coronavirus epidemic. The chances of acquiring the necessary equipment from the open market are scarce, as most countries face the same challenge. As for the know-how, we are desperately seeking advices from specialists who know how to deal with a pandemic and the Republic of Korea is one of the top countries to have succeeded.
