Halloween events in Toronto

Halloween weekend events in Toronto consist of more than just outrageous costume parties. While there's a fair share of those, there are also pumpkin parades, Day of the Dead parties, and a few events completely unrelated to the holiday.

HALLOWEEN STREET PARTY

Church Street Halloween Party (October 31)
The city's biggest Halloween extravaganza is back for another year, taking over Church Street for a night of ghoulish festivities. With the street closed from Alexander to Gloucester, there's plenty of partying to be done. If you don't have the funds to dip into every bar on the block, the street is just as lively (if not more).

DEVIL'S NIGHT PARTIES

Zombie Wrestling Toronto (October 30)
Humans, Zombies and Luchadores will duke it out in a "survival of the fittest" style battle on October 30th at Lithuanian House. You won't have to put hours of effort into a costume if you plan on attending; everyone's eyes will be glued to the fighters anyway.

HALLOWEEN PARTIES

6th Annual Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air 90's Halloween (October 31)
Suit up in your finest fluorescent track suit and get ready to party like the Fresh Prince himself. 99 Sudbury will be hosting the 6th instalment of the iconic Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Halloween bash. Expect to find the masses perfecting the Carlton to old school '90s hits. See what else is going down on Halloween here.

PUMPKIN PARADES

Sorauren Pumpkin Parade (November 1)
Pumpkin parades are a well-loved post-Halloween annual tradition in the city. On November 1st you'll find Sorauren Park a glow with hundreds of jack o' lanterns, making for quite the spectacle. If you don't want to be a mere bystander, carve up your own pumpkin and add it to the show. There are a few more parades happening around the city, if you can't make it to the west side.

DAY OF THE DEAD

Day of the Dead (November 1)
If you can muster up the strength to leave your bed the morning after Halloween, head to the Evergreen Brick Works for a Day of the Dead celebration. The event will feature live Latin music and dance, plus a ton of traditional food and drink.

CONCERTS

DEATH TO T.O 2015 (October 30)
Want to see the B-52's, Backstreet Boys, and The Strokes perform at the same party? Well, unfortunately, that's not gonna happen. But Lee's Palace is offering the next best thing; they've enlisted over 15 bands and musicians to play cover songs all evening long.

FREAKOUT! (October 31)
The Phoenix is hosting it's annual Halloween rave this Saturday. The line-up includes Black Sun Empire, FuntCase, The Upbeats, Polaris, DJ BASSik, and more. No costume is required here, so feel free to dress up as yourself.

TV & MOVIES

Double Double Horror (October 30)
Double Double Land is throwing a pre-Halloween bash complete with DJs, artwork, and everyone's favourite cartoon family, The Simpsons. Costumes are optional, but if you've got a Marge wig or Homer ensemble, you'll fit right in.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (October 30)
One of the most well-loved Halloween traditions is dressing up and watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Put on your finest pair of fishnets, slap on a full face of makeup and head to the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema to be a part of the whole song and dance.

Psycho with Live Orchestra (October 31)
See one of Alfred Hitchcock's most renown works, Psycho, at Roy Thomson Hall on Halloween night. The Toronto Symphony Orchestra will be playing the live score, making Norman Bates' actions all the more chilling.

COMEDY

The Improvised Shining (October 30)
Halloween doesn't have to be all about horror. Head to the Bad Dog Theatre Company on the eve of Halloween to catch a comedic take on The Shining. Andy Auld, Alice Moran, Jess Bryson, Kris Siddiqi, and Scott Thompson will be providing the laughs.

Lea DeLaria (October 31)
Orange Is the New Black star, Lea DeLaria, will be bringing her one woman comedy show to Toronto on Halloween. Not strictly a comedic event, DeLaria will also showcase her musical talent. If you're not familiar, check out her new release House Of David before heading to the show.

STREET PARTY

Ossington Village Alleyway Party (November 1)
For its 5th edition, the Ossington Village Alleyway Party is taking on a Day of the Dead theme. Expect to find live music, games, storytelling, garage movies and a clothing swap. Nothing is up for sale, so bring some shareable food and drinks.

SHOPPING

Toronto Downtown Record Show (November 1)
The Toronto Downtown Record show returns this Sunday, bringing vinyl enthusiasts to the Toronto Estonian House for a day of retail therapy. The last event featured over 100,000 records for sale, so this could easily take up your entire day. For those looking to save a little cash, there's a $5 room with more than enough to choose from.

Old Book and Paper Sale (November 1)
Got a passion for all things book related? Spend the day after Halloween rifling through vintage stationary and antique books at Artscape Wychwood Barns. Over 70 tables will be piled high with everything from comics to maps.
