Celebrate Canada Day at Queen’s Park

Ontario will host its annual Canada Day celebration on the front lawn of Queen’s Park in Toronto, with family-friendly live performances, rides and more.

This year’s event on Friday, July 1 includes performances by:

 The casts of Fame The Musical and Alice in Wonderland
 Canadian Beatbox Champion Scott Jackson, Anishnaabe dance artist Nimkii Osawamick and chanteuse Mélanie Brûlée
 Brass band buskers Hogtown Sound.

Adults and children can:

 Take part in interactive performance art workshops
 Learn how to make crafts and create Mad Science experiments
 Take a break in The Parent-Child Mother Goose Storytelling Program tent.

Festivities run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the official opening and 21-gun salute beginning at noon. Admission is free.

 Roads around Queen’s Park will be closed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
 The Canada Day celebration at Queen’s Park has been a tradition since 1967.
 Formerly known as “Dominion Day”, Canada Day marks the anniversary of the Constitution Act of 1867, joining Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec in confederation.
 In 2017, Canada and Ontario will celebrate their 150th birthday.
