August 15 – September 1

NEW - Country Saloon, Mechanical Bull, Towering Fandom Robot,
and Star-Studded Concert Series Featuring the likes of Hanson, Down With Webster, Tom Cochrane and Tim Hicks!

WHAT: Sounds of the Midway, laughter, music and the aroma of funnel cakes and cotton candy are a sure sign of the heydays of summer when the 136th annual Canadian National Exhibition gets underway August 15 – September 1, 2014. New and exciting attractions join many returning favourites in the 2014 CNE line-up, which includes the all-new Northern Comfort Saloon complete with a mechanical bull and line-dancing, a CanStruction of the top three Toronto mayoral candidates made out of cans of food, celebrity appearances including the renowned mentalist The Amazing Kreskin, and headlining concerts featuring international and award-winning artists and bands. The 2014 CNE also marks the return of popular attractions including the CNE Zip Line, Sky Ride, SuperDogs and The Flying Wallendas.

And let’s not forget the FOOD! Always eclectic and oh-so delicious, this year’s CNE food offerings promise to be the best yet…stay tuned for upcoming announcements.

2014 CNE HIGHLIGHTS:

NEW - The CanStruction of Mayoral Candidates: For the first time, CNE attendees have a chance to see Toronto’s top three mayoral candidates constructed entirely out of 10,000 cans of food. Each “can”onization of the candidates will stand 6 ft. x 6 ft., and visitors are encouraged to bring cans of food to show their electoral support in front of each display. Donations will go to a local food bank.

NEW - Northern Comfort Saloon: Wild West meets New Country! Cowboys and cowgirls are invited to take swig and swing inside this all-new entertainment experience featuring live performances by exciting country artists, line-dancing and a mechanical bull! Performers include Marshall Dane, Leah Daniels and the Boom Chucka Boys.

NEW - SKETCH: A brand new music, entertainment and live-art installation stage comes to the CNE this year! Over the course of 18 days, the SKETCH stage at the Warehouse Outlets in the Direct Energy Centre (Hall D) will explode with performances by a premier team of local DJs, musicians, dancers and urban visual artists.

NEW – The Amazing Kreskin: With a showman’s flair, a comedian’s wit, and the capacities of a bona fide mentalist or thought-reader, Kreskin has become a household name. Nationally recognized as a teenager as “The World’s Youngest Hypnotist”, The Amazing Kreskin went on to become a mesmerizing entertainer and an integral part of pop culture throughout the world. Now, he is ready to bring his legendary talents to the CNE for the first time!

Pyrotechnics: An extraordinary dance of colour and light takes over the summer skies as pyrotechnics return to the CNE each night during the fair (excluding Labour Day). The Princes’ Gates and rooftop of the Direct Energy Centre will serve as the dramatic stage for a not-to-be-missed kaleidoscope of colour.

PC Financial Zip Line: This exhilarating experience was added to the “fun of the fair” in 2013 and is sure to satisfy thrill seekers once again. Nerves will be tested atop the 126-foot tower that offers a bird’s eye view of the CNE grounds, before being careened down more than 1,100 feet to a landing point.

The Flying Wallendas: Back by popular demand, one of the greatest acts in circus history returns to the CNE this summer to captivate audiences with dazzling daredevil stunts and amazing aerial feats! Renowned for pushing the boundaries of gravity, balance and imagination, every second will keep spectators enthralled.

PC Financial Sky Ride: The Sky Ride extends 40 feet above the ground at its highest point, transporting riders in a leisurely and breathtaking ride across the CNE grounds with panoramic views of The Midway, Lake Ontario, and the Toronto skyline.

Fandom Exhibit and Sand Sculpture: From stories and experiences to displays of fan-made replicas, movie-style props, collectables, costumes, photographs, artwork and more, this unique exhibit will look at segments of pop culture through the eyes of fans. Celebrate your fandom and enjoy the talented Karen Fralich’s massive 100 tonne sand sculpture themed around pop culture fan favourites including Star Wars characters and much more!

Food Truck Frenzy: The CNE hosts one of Canada’s largest food truck rallies on August 22 – August 24. Foodies can rejoice in unique offerings, internationally inspired fare and indulgent treats that have become a part of the CNE experience.

60th Anniversary of the Toronto Star Food Building: More than one million people visit the iconic Toronto Star Food Building each year to experience the vast array of foods that mix global flavours with traditional favourites, alongside innovative and healthy options to fuel up for a day at the CNE. There really is something to suit every taste and budget.

NEW – Mirage: Acrobatic Show: Acrobatics return to the CNE this year with an exciting new show. The colourful extravaganza will feature cirque performers, artists, aerialists and more.

NEW - DISCO DOGS: The President’s Choice SuperDogs Show: Due to its packed to capacity shows, the SuperDogs are relocating to the Ricoh Coliseum this year. From terriers, collies and bulldogs, these adorable and talented canines are sure to woof up the applause with an all-new super disco show!

NEW - Concerts: Catching a concert at the CNE Bandshell is the best way to close out a great day at the fair. Spanning the entire musical spectrum for all ages, headlining acts in 2014 include Hanson, Down With Webster, The Mavericks, José Feliciano, Tim Hicks, Tom Cochrane, Gord Bamford, Christopher Cross, The Mighty Diamonds, These Kids Wear Crowns with Eleven Past One/PRTY H3RO and international pop star Kailash Kher – all concerts are FREE with admission!

PAN AM Sport Zone: Featuring a wide variety of interactive sports activities, this outdoor attraction will be a celebration of the 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games including displays, daily skills clinics, demonstrations and scheduled athlete meet and greets!

International Pavilion: The treasures of the world find their way to the CNE in this unique 110,000 square foot marketplace. Exquisite jewelry, clothing, home furnishings, gifts, handicrafts and furniture from exotic international locales are yours to behold in this fascinating pavilion, which also showcases indigenous cultural entertainment on the International Stage.

Kids’ World: A wonderland of amusement rides, games, activities and entertainment designed especially for kids and families. A fun-filled day includes pizza-making and art studio at the KidStreet Interactive Zone, Reptilia show, circus school, appearances by popular characters like Mike the Knight and Dora, as well as stage shows including Splash & Boots.

Shopping and Celebrity Stages: A “marathon of marketplaces,” the CNE is a treasure trove of artisan offerings, international bazaar, warehouse outlets and bargains on virtually everything from home-related products to lifestyle and leisure merchandise. Shop ‘till you drop or take a break from retail therapy to partake in live demonstrations from celebrity lifestyle and design experts such as Jeanne Beker and Candice Olson, as well as North America’s top chefs including Michael Smith and Christian Pritchard to name a few!
